Can't boot P2V conversion of Fedora system

I'm trying to do a P2V conversion of an older Fedora system. The only tricky thing about the hardware seems to be that the main drive is on a Promise SATA controller.

As installed, the system has a single drive (sda) with a boot partition (sda1) and an LVM volume containing root and swap. This gets converted to two SCSI drives, one corresponding to /boot and a second one containing the Logical Volume.

When I go to boot the system, it loads the kernel, but the boot fails when it can't find the root file system.

I assume the problem is related to either:

a) The one drive being split into two

b) The drivers for the SCSI controller (lsilogic) not being in the kernel ramdisk

Can anybody point me to some info which would let me either fix the converted VM or adjust the physical system so it converts correctly?

Thanks...

John
