after i install vmware workstation - fresh install i install ubuntu and other o/s  they all run fine, well ubuntu and normal o/s work fine, odd linux ones will obv need some tweaking but for all intensive purposes it works good, very good infact

but after a computer restart it no longer functions and thats the default for every time i install vmware workstation

and the above error appears the       -    transport (VMDB) error -44: Message. The VMware Authorization Service is not running

so  i go to msconfig "run as administrator" however i should note i am the only user i am the admin "no password"

2vm.png

now i can see it is meant to start, but has not

so i then go to services.msc - right click run as admin "and again i must note i am the only user and the admin"

3vm.png

now from this i can see 2 services have started, 2 services have not despite all being automatic

4vm.png

the above error happens to both when i try to start them

so i look to the depenency services as follows to see if i can locate and activate or unrestrict them

at this point most people refer to a single phrase "Windows Management Instrumentation"  in fact everyone seems to refer to this back to a single online post which is often a direct copy of another online post which in turn goes back to a youtube video and from there following dates of it being posted it goes back to a single jackass response to this problem on a forum, its an "vague answer" or more specifically its "vague" unless you are mcsa/mcse qualified you wont get why its such a "vague" and rather "pretenious" an answer as such people keep pretending to know what there talking about and repeat what they are told, which is truly a rather annoying detail so i will now break it down

WMI is installed on all modern microsoft operating systems "so dont go online looking for it" its installed and trust me it is indeed "ON" it will have all the permissions it needs but inside wmi there may be certain individual components or  extensions may be turned off or limited

for the vmware to work two need to be functional

vm6.png

DCOM is - for Communication among software components  across networked computers

for more info if required refer to Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM)

RPC is - inter process communcation that allows a computer program to cause a subroutine /procedure to excecute in another address space

this is a very brief description and far far from complete as it has more complex and related functions

both of these as you can imagine are needed and reading it you can see why in vmware they all appear to be started in services

to get to access them in "windows 7" - my version also happens to be"64bit ultimate"

go to start "globe bottom left by default" move cursor to "my computer"  i renamed to "ok computer" right click and select "manage"

then expand "services and applications" and this is what you should see

7vm.png

and behold "WMI" CONTROL

from here i select wmi control right click properties, and then select the security tab

VM8.png

click on security and enable the approriate users "to cover all possibilities i have accepted all" for this single purpose

vm9.png

now at this point I turn my concern to DCOM in regards to launch and activation permissions

click start or "win globe" at the bottom left

click run type DCOMCNFG right click it run as "administrator"

12vm.png

expand component services, computers my computer

13vm.png

right click my computer - select properties click the COM Security tab

14v.png

verified on both edit limits that i the admin and local users have permissions

at this point i was at a loss of what else to check or double check and install the WMI Administrative Tools

and no longer know how to solve this issue
