As you can see my previous post we are running much bigger clusters without any problems (related to VCSA or it's database)
for your second question:
There is no way to migrate the windows based vCenter settings to an Appliance.
You have to prepare all the settings and migrate the ESX servers under your new vCenter Appliance...
